FAQ

What is the difference between PLA and Silk PLA?

This is usually due to the nozzle being too far from the bed or a dirty surface. Recalibrate your Z-offset and clean the bed with IPA. For PETG, using a glue stick is highly recommended.

How can I reduce visible layer lines?

Try lowering the layer height (e.g., to 0.1mm) or optimizing the print speed. PLA offers excellent detail and is the best choice for models requiring a smooth finish.

What should I do if the nozzle gets clogged?

Clogs can be caused by impurities or low temperatures. Use the "Cold Pull" method or replace the nozzle. Ensure previous material residue is fully purged when switching filament types.

What are the differences between PLA, PETG, and TPU? Which one should I choose?
  • PLA: Easy to print, high precision, and eco-friendly (biodegradable). Best for decorative models and education.
  • PETG: High strength, heat-resistant, and waterproof. Ideal for functional parts and outdoor use.
  • TPU: Soft, elastic, and wear-resistant. Perfect for protective cases, seals, and flexible components.
What should I do if the filament gets damp? How to store it properly?

Moisture causes stringing, bubbles, or "popping" sounds during printing. Always store filaments in a sealed bag or dry box with desiccant. If it's already damp, use a professional filament dryer to restore it.

Why am I getting "stringing" (cobwebs) on my prints?

This is usually related to Retraction settings or Nozzle temperature. Try lowering the temperature by 5-10°C or increasing the retraction distance. Note that PETG is more prone to stringing than PLA.

How can I improve bed adhesion with your filament?

This is caused by material shrinkage due to rapid cooling. To fix this: 1. Turn on/increase the bed temperature; 2. Use glue stick for better adhesion; 3. Enable "Brim" or "Raft" in your slicing software.

Which 3D printer brands are compatible with Printing Maker?

Our filaments are compatible with almost all FDM 3D printers that use the standard 1.75mm diameter (the most common standard on the market).
